Members of Egerton University (EU), Nakuru, met on 2 February 2012. The meeting was headed by the national Vice Chair, Evan Kimani, who is also an EU student. The main agenda of this meeting was to agree on the dates for coffee hour and camping at Lake Nakuru. Evan reports that the turn-out for this meeting was low, due to challenges in finding an appropriate time when every member is free, but this will be tackled in due time. New members have also been recruited from EU. Five of the EU members attended the annual speech contest held on the 25th of February, at the Japanese Embassy in Nairobi.

13th Conference - The Journey Begins
A Word from Gladys Ogendi, Kenya Chairperson, 13th JKSC
Our first official documentation for JKSC-Kenya, I’d be lying if I didn't say I’m a little bit proud. I feel like this is a step towards bigger and better things. Before I forget myself and go poetic about our big dreams and embracing the future, I should properly introduce myself. I am Gladys Ogendi, in my final year of International Business Study, at United States International University– Africa.

| Gladys Ogendi, introductory speech at JKSC first national meeting, UoN, Nairobi |

2012 is an auspicious year. According to the Mayans, it is when the world would end, or when the slate would be wiped clean, giving us the opportunity to re-write destiny. I don’t know it’s interpretation according to how you view your own humanity. To me though, 2012 is not a harbouring of all doom. To me, 2012 is opportunity, like every new year, ripe with anticipation and a spring freshness to rejuvenate the soul.

It is my sincere hope that as we plan the 13th JKSC conference, you may all join hands with me as we embrace our present. Our future is now. The world has given us more than enough opportunity to prepare, now is our chance to show them just how much we can shine.
